BC Farmers’ Markets – Nutrition Coupon Program Fund

The BC Farmers' Markets – Nutrition Coupon Program Fund provides an opportunity for lower-income families, seniors and pregnant people to buy fresh, locally grown food from BC farmers in communities across the province.

This innovative healthy eating program strengthens food security and supports farmers’ markets across British Columbia. 230 community partner organizations provide coupons to lower-income families, seniors and pregnant people participating in their programs. Recipients can use the coupons to buy at any of the 105 farmers' markets that participate in the program.

The FMNCP impacts 30,000 lower- income British Columbians from over 12,000 households. Most families, seniors and pregnant people who participate report that the program allows them to buy healthy foods and feel healthier and more connected to their community.

At the same time, the more than 1,200 BC farmers who accept these coupons benefit directly, dollar for dollar, with each coupon redeemed. This serves to sustain local farmers and farmlands, while strengthening our overall local food system.

Your donation to the Farmers' Market Nutrition Coupon Program will make it possible for more lower-income British Columbians to buy fresh, locally grown food from BC farmers at farmers' markets across the province.

Each $27 donation supports a recipient to buy local fresh food from their farmers' market one time. A donation of $432 provides fresh food to a family for an entire season, from June - December! We will direct your donation to the communities with the highest need. If you would like to direct your donation to a specific community, you have the option to do so when you make your donation. Please contact us if we are not operating in your community.

Our Story

Market produce, carrots, lettuce

The BC Association of Farmers' Markets supports, develops and promotes over 145 farmers’ markets across BC. Our work ensures local food thrives in all corners of the province. We deliver the Farmers' Market Nutrition Coupon Program (FMNCP) in partnership with the Province of British Columbia.

The need for fresh, healthy and local fruits, vegetables, meat and dairy is high, especially for lower income households. Your donation to the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program will enable more British Columbians to participate in more communities at more farmers’ markets across the province.

The BC Association of Farmers' Markets is grateful for the financial support it receives from the Province of British Columbia, the Columbia Basin Trust, and the generosity of other community funders and individuals across the province to deliver this impactful program.
