The BC Poverty Reduction Coalition actively campaigns for the introduction of a bold and comprehensive poverty reduction plan from the government of British Columbia; giving a coordinated voice to over 50 community and non-profit groups, faith groups, health organizations, First Nations and Aboriginal organizations, businesses, labour organizations, and social policy groups and nearly 400 supporting organizations. BC is the only province left without a poverty reduction plan. All other provinces in Canada either have had poverty reduction plans or are in the process of adopting them, and many are already seeing success. In most places, it was community pressure that convinced the government to take action with legislated targets and timelines to significantly reduce poverty and homelessness.
Moving in with Vancity Community Foundation has been great. Not only have they provided incredible backbone support, they have also joined in our campaigns wholeheartedly. Being hosted with First Call and the Living Wage for Families Campaign improves our collective strength to make meaningful change. Thanks VCF!
