Funding Opportunities 

 

The following funding opportunities are available to help local communities thrive. 

Community and Donor Advised Funds 

Vancity Community Foundation administers over 260 Community and Donor Advised Funds (CDAFs). While many are designated for specific causes or charities, some funds accept general inquiries aligned with their purpose or VCF’s community and strategic priorities. CDAF grants typically provide funding from $500 to $5,000. To be considered, please complete and submit an inquiry form. We will review your submission for alignment with available funding. 

 The Youth and Elders Regenerative Fund  

The Youth and Elders Regenerative Fund provides strategic and trust-based grants to support projects and programs fostering intergenerational connections between youth and Elders or seniors in Indigenous and Black communities. These connections promote purpose, connection, healing, social support and sharing of culture. To assist as many Indigenous and Black-led and serving initiatives as possible, the maximum grant size is $5,000. To be considered for support, please complete and submit an inquiry form. We will assess alignment with available funding.  

Community + Equity Sponsorship 

Vancity Community Foundation provides support for community organizing and community connection with a focus on supporting smaller and grassroots organizations that align to VCF’s community and strategic priorities. The maximum amount available is $5000.Sponsorship funding has now been fully allocated for this year (2025) and we are unable to accept further inquiries at this time. 

Affordable Community Housing Program 

The Affordable Community Housing Programs helps not-for-profit, cooperative and Indigenous organizations overcome barriers by providing grants and financing for the early-phases of a development project to help them become construction ready and accelerate to completion. Reaching Home 

Reaching Home: Canada’s Homelessness Strategy is a community-based program aimed at preventing and reducing homelessness across Canada. Reaching Home is funded by the Government of Canada and delivered by a local Community Entity. 

Lu’ma Native Housing Society, in partnership with Vancity Community Foundation, serves as the Community Entity for the designated community funding stream in the Greater Vancouver region. The Community Entity (CE) Lu’ma and VCF work with the Community Advisory Board and various other partners to support service delivery and system coordination to address homelessness. BC Rent Bank 

BC Rent Bank is a project of Vancity Community Foundation, funded by the Province of British Columbia. BC Rent Bank provides funding to the provincial rent bank network and supports rent bank partners with technology, resources, and training. The data and information collected through the network is used to advocate for change within the renter market. 

BC Rent Bank partners with community-based agencies or local non-profit organizations, which operate rent banks in communities around BC.
