If you’re building affordable, community-owned housing, you know that early support can be the difference between momentum and missed opportunity. That’s where the Vancity Affordable Community Housing Program comes in.
A joint initiative between Vancity Credit Union and Vancity Community Foundation, we’re here to help non-profit, co-operative and Indigenous organizations bring climate-ready, affordable rental housing to life. Through grants and flexible low-cost financing, the program supports projects that strengthen communities and create lasting impact.
Seeded by Vancity credit union in 2011, the Accelerator Fund has grown to $25 million – thanks to a significant contribution from CMHC’s Innovation Fund and by leveraging funds from social impact investors who believe in expanding affordable housing and earning a return while reflecting their values.
Our services
The Affordable Community Housing Program is here to help at the earliest stages of affordable housing development. This includes:
- Early-stage grants: Support for concept development, feasibility studies or business planning
- Pre-construction loans: Flexible, low-cost loans for pre-development, pre-construction and acquisition
- Capacity building: Grants and workshops to strengthen your development capacity
